dignitas have become the first team to qualify for the ESL One Cologne Main Qualifier after defeating Orbit 2-1 (16-11 on Mirage, 10-16 on Cache, 16-11 on Overpass).

The upper bracket final has just concluded and the result sees Dignitas advance to the Grand Final of the DreamHack Regional Minor Championship Europe at DH Tours 2016. In addition to this, the Danes have also secured the first of two available slots at the ESL One Cologne Main Qualifier.

After the picks and bans process was completed, the first map was decided to be Mirage by Dignitas. The first half saw Orbit, however, start out strong as they quickly marched to a 6-1 lead. Seemingly the Danes were asleep during this time, as before long they finally were able to not only level the score, but also take the half 8-7.

The second half was similar as once again the Bulgarian team won the pistol round. This time Dignitas didn't need as many rounds to start putting up some of their own, giving Orbit only the first two. After this it was Dignitas who were displaying better play going up to a 14-9 score off the back of great opening frags from Mathias "⁠MSL⁠" Lauridsen.

Although Orbit were able to win a few more rounds, the five round buffer proved to be too big of an obstacle to overcome, allowing Dignitas to close out the first map on Mirage, 16-11.

Orbit chose Cache as their map and this was the next battleground in the best-of-three. Once again it was the Bulgarians who strung the first few rounds together and once again Dignitas was able to tie things up after going down 5-1. This time, however, it was Orbit who were able to end the half on a positive note, taking it 8-7.

The second half was where Orbit was able to show why they chose Cache to play on. Once on the terrorist side, the team went on an 8-2 run showing their strategic superiority and were able to tie up the series at one a piece.

Cobblestone was the final map; a map we saw the two teams play each other on in the group stage (where Dignitas inched out a win 16-13). The first half started out with the Bulgarian team on the Terrorist side where they were able to to post a solid, five round lead heading into the second half.

At this point Dignitas really turned on the heat going on an 11-1 run in the second half to take the final map 16-11 giving them the win in the entire series.

As a result, Orbit have fallen into the consolidation final where they will play against HellRaisers in the next match of the day. The match between the two rivals was originally scheduled for 15:00 but will probably be pushed back to allow Orbit to rest.
